I-80 Back Open After Tanker Truck Crash

RENO, NV - Interstate 80 eastbound is back open at North Virginia Street in Reno after a tanker truck crashed early Wednesday morning. Traffic was diverted for about three-and-a-half hours. The truck driver hit a guard rail and rolled over and HAZMAT crews are finished cleaning it up.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, but investigators say speed was likely a factor. The driver has been cited for not maintaining a lane.

The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle program is geared to replace the current Humvee with something more survivible with a greater payload.

Like the Joint Strike Fighter competition between Lockheed Martin and Boeing in 1996, the JLTV program has several bidders for the contract of over 60,000 units starting 2015. Among the competitors are Lockheed Martin with the JLTV, AM General with the BRV-O, and BAE Systems with the Valanx.

Earlier this year TACOM (Tactical Command) has announced that the program has entered the Engineering and Manufacturing Develpment phase - meaning that it won't be too long until they determine which of the designs will be picked.

Here's some headcam action from YouTube user 0usmcscoutsniper from the June24th game at Three Creeks.

The pilot (cameraman), has crashed along with a small crew and must defend the site until they are rescued by a medical team. Once the two teams meet, they are cleared to blow the helicopter and must make it to the evacuation site.

The opposition force, however, isn't going to make it easy for either the crew nor the medics.

Army ditches failed combat uniform that put a target on grunts’ backs for 8 years
Over the next year, America’s largest fighting force is swapping its camouflage pattern. The move is a quiet admission that the last uniform — a pixelated design that debuted in 2004 at a cost of $5 billion — was a colossal mistake.

“Essentially, the Army designed a universal uniform that universally failed in every environment,” said an Army specialist who served two tours in Iraq, wearing UCP in Baghdad and the deserts outside Basra. “The only time I have ever seen it work well was in a gravel pit.”.

“Brand identity trumped camouflage utility,” Graves said. “That’s what this really comes down to: ‘We can’t allow the Marine Corps to look more cool than the Army.’ ”

Worried officials in Hopkins want Airsoft guns off streets
'Parents should know better'

Erik Pakieser, the association's safety officer, said that with paintball parks and other private places to play Airsoft, "there's no excuse to go and play in your back yard or in a park."

"I really have to take parents to task on this," he said. "Parents should know better. ... I don't know what they're thinking, giving kids the guns as gifts and saying, 'Here, go play in the street' and thinking nothing will happen."
